The GPON product line dates back to 2004 when a major telecom company inquired if it was possible to manufacture a 2x10 SFF OLT transceiver for new fiber to the home equipment. Since that time tens of thousands of OLT transceivers have been manufactured and deployed in equipment throughout the world. The long/short reset refers to the type of reset signal applied during the interval between data packets. The short reset types are designed to operate with commercially available G-PON MAC chip sets. All the G-PON devices listed incorporate the digital diagnostic interface (except for the 2x5 SFF LTB3465). Normally, the memory maps are programmed with customer-specific data. The Tx-SD function on certain ONU transceivers provides for “rogue” ONU detection on the PON via the I2C interface.
