Ligent Photonics, Inc. is a global technology leader in the design, development, fabrication and sales of cutting edge optical components for the telecommunications and data communications industries.  We are creating the industry’s most innovative product portfolio including a wide range of active and passive devices that feature highest performance and meet safety standards in compliance with the most stringent quality requirements and applicable MSA agreements.

Ligent was established in 2002 as a joint venture company.  Our partner, Hisense, is a global high technology conglomerate.  Established in 1969, Hisense generates annual revenue in excess of $4 billion.  The Ligent management team is comprised of leaders from the telecommunications, semiconductor and investment banking industries including Molex, Nortel, Philips, Fujitsu, Marconi, Nanovation Technologies and the Shenyin & Wanguo Securities Company.

Ligent designs its products at St. Charles, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.  Our high technology products require substantial investment in plant and equipment.  They are manufactured in China by leveraging equipment and know-how that is resident within the Hisense production campus at Qingdao.  Our business model produces an effective means to bring high performance, low cost, state of the art products to market quickly.

Ligent holds several global and local patents related to transceiver technology.   Ligent sponsors applied technology research at independent university laboratories in China and Canada.

Ligent was one of the first companies to offer a complete line of “burst mode” optical SFF transceivers for the B-PON, E-PON / GE-PON and G-PON markets.  Our PON products were deployed in digital CATV infrastructure equipment as early as 2003 with no reported field failures to date.

Our production facilities enable us to ramp production to consumer electronic levels.  Hisense maintains its own high-speed circuit board assembly lines and therefore is able to control product quality.  Circuit boards manufactured for the optical transceiver product line have been RoHS compliant since June 2006.  Testing of the completed product is conducted using automated test equipment, which is calibrated to international standards in accordance with MIL-STD calibration intervals.  All products are subject to a burn-in period before being released for shipment.

Ligent sells the products in North America, Europe and the Middle East through a network of sales representatives.  Hisense Optoelectronics sells the products in Asia through a network of direct sales offices.
